The New Dutch Views series started as Marwan Bassiouni's graduation project at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague and has continued to develop ever since.

For New Dutch Views, Bassiouni traveled through polders, industrial estates, villages, inner cities and suburbs to photograph the Dutch landscape from inside the mosque. The result is a powerful visual experience, a representation of identity, coexistence, and the representation of Islam in Western culture. New Dutch Views also suggests a response to negative representations of the Muslim religion. The publication includes autobiographical reflections in between the pages.

In addition to typical mosque elements, the razor-sharp images show things that have long been part of the Dutch interior: square windows, brick, and a radiator. These photographs document the emergence of a new Western-Islamic identity.

The New Dutch Views Collector Edition includes a limited edition fine art print of New Dutch Views #12 (polder landscape, 38 x 29 cm). The book and the print come in a custom blue linen slipcase with mosque window embossing on the front. All copies are signed, numbered and dated.
